What is SpiderMEWP? The Story Behind the Brand

SpiderMEWP is another word for a spider lift. A tracked cherry picker with outriggers that lifts itself off the ground, spreading its weight efficiently and allowing the machine to set up safely on uneven gradients and rough terrain.

It's also the name I use across everything. LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube, and this website. Working in powered access since 2011, with more than a decade focused on spider lifts, SpiderMEWP is the brand I've built around that specialism.

The Idea: Modernising Tracked Access

Years ago I spent hours considering how to modernise the spider lift industry. Looking for ways to push the sector forward, focused on the idea that consistent, incremental changes eventually lead to significant progress.

One concept involved building a unified brand for independent spider lift companies. A network where businesses share work, pool expertise, and collectively improve the technical knowledge available across the industry. That path didn't happen, but the principle of sharing knowledge stuck.

It's the reason for regular LinkedIn content and technical notes. The podcast is live, featuring conversations with guests across the access sector.

Why I Co-Created MewpHub

It's also why I co-created MewpHub. The access industry has always had an efficiency challenge when it comes to speccing the right machine and planning a site properly. MewpHub is a platform that lets you compare spider lift specifications, create berthing plans, and export site survey packs.

It exists for the same reason everything else does: better planning before the machine leaves the yard produces a better result on the day. No wagon turning up and going straight home.

Making Access Simple

The goal across all of it is simple. Educate, share what works, and make access simpler for everyone involved.
